The language of the app and the language of your invoices are two separate settings. Each user chooses the app language for themselves. The document language is a company setting and applies to everyone who works in it.
The app in English
Click your name or the gear icon in the top bar (on a phone: My account, Account settings). Under “Jazyk aplikace (App language)” choose English (beta) and click Save settings. The label is in both languages on purpose, so you find it even if you don’t read Czech.
If you sign up from the English website, the app is in English straight away. Before you log in, you can switch with the English / Česky link at the top of the page.
Official Czech terms keep their Czech name in brackets, for example “Tax point date (DUZP)” or “VAT control statement (kontrolní hlášení)”. That is what your accountant, your bank and the tax office will call them. Hover over a term to see a short explanation, or read the Czech invoicing glossary. The brackets are never printed on documents for your customers.
English is in beta. The main part of the app is translated: menus, dashboard, invoices and other documents, customers, settings, sign-up and login. Some less used pages, such as the VAT overview, expenses or the bank statement import, may still show Czech.
Invoices in English
Set the language of your documents in Account, Basic company settings, in the Document language field:
- Automatic (default): by the customer’s country. Customers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia get Czech documents, everyone else gets English. A document without a country counts as Czech.
- cs or en: all documents in one language, whoever the customer is.
The document language does not change the app language, and the other way round. Documents can be in Czech or English, no other languages yet.
The email subject (including payment reminders) follows the document language. The email text itself comes from Account, Email texts and is the same for all customers; the default text is Czech. For a customer abroad, rewrite it in the sending window, or write your own text in Email texts, for example in both languages.
More about invoicing customers abroad is in Invoicing foreign customers and other currencies.
